1. Local
Environmental Action Planning
REC Country Office
Latvia has been participating in the project " Local Environmental
Action Planning" since project was launched in 1997. Its initial
role was to provide information to REC HQ about national and local level
policies and experiences in Latvia regarding environmental management;
to identify needs of local specialists and community leaders in the
field.
Throughout the
project REC Latvia office grew up and became recognizable experts in
LEAP methodologies in Latvia and CEE region as well.
Project has 2
dimensions:
1) Central Eastern
European what consists of sharing knowledge among LEAP practitioners
in different REC beneficiary countries in CEE;
2) National what
means promoting of the LEAP approach and assisting to municipalities
in developing LEAP on national-Latvian-scale.

EU Life Ziemelsuseja project, 2002-2005
REC Country Office
Latvia is participating in the project "Elaboration
of new comprehensive Ziemelsuseja River Basin Management System based on
ecosystem approach and wide stakeholders involvement into decision
making process at local level" as
partner.
